LA Siggraph Presents - Snow Crash: Virtual Reality Goes Real
LA Siggraph Virtual reality is making a comeback. After years of silence a new generation of low-cost devices, such as head mounted displays, data gloves and biofeedback sensors, have become commercially available. This innovation is fueled primarily by the quest for ever-increasing immersion in computer games. However, unlike in previous decades VR devices will now be able to penetrate the consumer market and may form the technological foundation needed to deliver new kinds of services in the homes of the people. A broad range of novel applications, among them Cyber Care, Virtual Training and Social Therapy will benefit from this new wave of opportunities. Join us as a few of the researchers and technologists working on bringing VR technology into everyday use present the latest applications.
